Nurses have the most critical position in the medical field. They are the link between Doctors and patients, and nurses help define the experience anyone has when visiting a Doctor or hospital.
Much of the work nurses do goes unnoticed or unappreciated by the community; this needs to change.
Nurses provide so much love, care, and respect towards patients. They are self-sacrificing and self-less in who they help. The best time to thank them for all they do is during Nurses Week, which is from May 6th through the 12th. Showing respect and admiration to nurses will help hospitals retain nurses; especially during the shortage of nurses many areas are experiencing right now. The key to appreciating nurses is to have a meaningful way to recognize them. Many hospitals give gifts, such as mugs, keychains, pens, etc. While these are great gifts, nurses need recognition from patients and the community they serve.
There is a big difference from a nurse manager saying thank you and a patient saying thank you for making a difference in their life. Nurses receive a warmer feeling from those they took care of and feel a deeper satisfaction that they have truly done their job. The meaning a nurse feels is in depth and indescribable.
